Melania Trump stuns in white dress – but fashion fans think she looks familiar

Melania Trump and the US President attended an engagement at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

The pair are visiting the royal residency to enjoy lunch with the Queen, Prince Charles, the Duke of Sussex and other senior royals today.

But as pictures emerged, it seems that the momentous occasion has been slightly overshadowed by the First Lady’s outfit choice.

Dozens of spectators believe Melania looks exactly like a film character.

So can you tell which one they’ve been comparing her to?

Melania, 49, wore a custom Dolce & Gabbana dress.

Her frock was mostly white, although it did feature navy belt and collar detailing.

The First Lady styled the designer garment with a Herve Pierre hat and Manolo Blahnik heels.

But while she looked very sophisticated, fashion fans pointed out she looked rather like Mary Poppins.

The comparison is likely to be because of the First Lady’s white outfit and large hat.

One Twitter user remarked: “What’s with Melania’s outfit. Looks like Mary Poppins.”

Another said: “Melania doing her best Mary Poppins.”

A third asked: “Why does Melania look like Mary Poppins?”

Others compared the First Lady to Audrey Hepburn’s character in My Fair Lady – Eliza Doolittle.

One responder tweeted: “Getting some Eliza Doolittle vibes from Melania’s outfit.”

A second wrote: “Melania’s Buckingham Palace visit outfit is giving me Eliza Doolittle at the horse race vibes and I’m not mad.”

Another questioned: “Why is Melania Trump dressed like Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady?”

Donald Trump landed in Britain today (June 3).

After meeting the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, he will be joined by the Duke of Sussex for a private lunch.

Next, the President will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey.
