Wiley says he’s ‘team Drake’ despite slamming rapper as a ‘culture vulture’

Wiley later went on to explain his criticism of the ‘new generation’ of black British artists who have been successful in the past couple of years.

The rapper said: ‘In England people use grime to reach their hip hop goals.

‘The new gen have done their own thing which I respect.I don’t expect everyone to be grime.

‘I just wanna say #UkRap #UkDrill #UkAfroPop etc whatever else is going on …Never think I ain’t happy for u all.I do what I do but believe me I am more happy for u lot getting money than u think.’

Wiley continued: ‘It’s just the genre is 20 years old and the top people innit always run off to meet there’re favourite hip hop artist.

‘Remember music week saying J Hus was grime ? Which meant they thought any black yout spitting bars is grime.J hus knows grime but he is a musician too me.He don’t make grime he makes all music [sic].’

Wiley escalated the feud when he later dragged Giggs into the row.

Knowing that Giggs and Drake are close friends, Wiley tagged ‘the landlord’ out of the blue stating: ‘Your boy cracked,’ in reference to Drizzy.

However Giggs was furious at being brought into the beef and responded: ‘Why did you just @ me? What exactly are u after here? Are u trying to show people that your greazy and u can @ Giggs?

‘What exactly are u trying to achieve? Coz all I see is u are trying to wind me up?’

After later deleting his tweets, Giggs posted an Instagram photo of himself on-stage with the cryptic caption: ‘The last laugh will be the loudest.’

In the 1Xtra interview, Drake addressed Wiley’s criticism, saying: ‘It is what it is, I see a lot and I’ll never understand how supporting somebody’s song or even going a step further and giving somebody a song or linking up…

‘I’ll never understand how that’s not viewed as something admirable but I guess people have their own outlook on it.’

He continued: ‘That’s just something I wanted to get off my chest. I just had to talk about it because it’s bothering me.

‘But yeah, I didn’t like that. It’s Wiley that said that, I’ll just say his name because that was some goofy s**t. But yeah, I just didn’t like that.

‘I was like, dude what are you talking about? They have tunes that are ringing off. Anybody that’s on now, what are you guys talking about?’
