The view of Earth from space could ‘change the world’, Virgin Galactic claim

It’s something that only a few people have been lucky enough to experience, but seeing Earth from space could ‘change the world’, according to Virgin Galactic.

Speaking at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC this week, Mike Moses, President of Virgin Galactic, explained the benefits of the so-called ‘overview effect.’

This is the idea that seeing Earth from above can change the way you think about the planet.

According to space.com , Mr Moses said: “The more people that see the Earth from above, the more change you can make on Earth.

"You bring space back home with you, and to be able to give people that perspective in a much broader swath than we ever have before — I think that’s the future.”

While seeing Earth from space is currently a privilege reserved for astronauts, Virgin Galactic believes it won’t be long before tourists will be able to travel into space to see the view for themselves.
