Horror injuries of girl, 3, after thug lit firework in her mouth that ripped apart her cheeks and burned her throat and lungs

The explosive device ripped apart her cheeks and burned her throat and lungs leaving the girl in critical condition.

The toddler, identified only by her first name Aarushi, has needed over 50 stitches and her throat has also been infected, according to reports.

She had been playing with other children in the street, lighting firecrackers on the eve of the Hindu festival Diwali, when a young thug suddenly seized one and placed it in the little girl's mouth.

The local youth then fled as her family soon arrived to rush her to a nearby hospital.

Medics have since confirmed Aarushi needed 50 stitches to her mouth and cheeks as well as treatment for injuries to her throat and lungs.

The shocking incident occurred in the village of Milak which is located in the Sardhana area of the city of Meerut in the northern Indian province of Uttar Pradesh.

Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness and fireworks are often used to mark the religious festival, including the firecrackers that the children were playing with.

According to reports, Aarushi's father Shashi Kumar has filed an official complaint and named the local lad who police are now looking for.
