Inspiring pictures in the running for photo award that celebrates British diversity
From injured hero soldiers and devoted mums to trans activists and bronzed bodybuilders — portraits show the range of characters that call Britain home.
They are just a few of the 100 shortlisted snaps in the Portrait Of Britain award being and will appear in a book by a small East London publisher.
The British Journal of Photography, which is running the competition, received more than 13,000 entries — a record haul in only the third year of the contest.
Now, the shortlisted century are being displayed on advertising boards up and down the country ahead of the launch of the Portrait of Britain book — containing an extra hundred top pics.
Its website says: "This career-changing exposure is unique to the scale of Portrait Of Britain, which reaches across the length and breadth of the UK."
