Meghan Markle’s estranged half-brother Thomas Markle Jr has issued another plea for family unity – and says he fears his father will spend Christmas alone without even a card from the Duchess of Sussex to console him.

This comes after her Thomas Markle Sr, 74, revealed in a Good Morning Britain interview on Monday that he has been making daily attempts to contact his daughter and wishes to reconcile.

The pregnant royal has been estranged from her father since May and has cut other members of her family, including her half-siblings Thomas Jr and Samantha, off completely.

She will spend the festive period at Sandringham in Norfolk with the rest of the Royal family, including Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen.

But speaking exclusively to DailyMailTV, Thomas Jr, 52, of Grants Pass, Oregon, said the family had enjoyed many happy Christmases with Meghan during her childhood and says he hopes the clan will eventually be allowed back into her life.

And in a bid for reconciliation, he is sending a Christmas card to Meghan at Kensington Palace saying he hopes they can put their differences aside and be the family they were before.

Christmas with the Royals: Thomas Markle Jr has revealed he will be sending half-sister Meghan (pictured December 25, 2017) a Christmas card in hopes of reconciling with his estranged sibling who has cut her father’s family out of her life

In a heartfelt card to the duchess seen by DailyMailTV, Markle Jr expresses his hopes to ‘mend our family back together for the New Year.’ He also included the Markle family in his sign off

He told DailyMailTV: ‘I’m making a point to reach out to Meghan again with a personalized Christmas card to her saying we should all put our differences aside and remember the family we had before.

‘I want to say to her, Merry Christmas to you and Harry and I hope Santa brings you everything you ever wanted.’

But the window fitter added: ‘I think everybody misses not being around some sort of family for Christmas, especially when it’s not something they’re really used to.

‘I think when she sees the difference between the Christmas she spends at the Palace, and she doesn’t have her family around her, I think she’ll realize that she’s missing something.’

In the heartfelt card, seen by DailyMailTV, Thomas Jr writes: ‘Dear Meghan & Harry,

‘May we all have a wonderful Christmas this year, It would be nice to mend our family back together for the New Year.

‘We miss you, love you and are very proud of you.

‘Love Tom Jr & The Markle family.’

‘I want to say to her, Merry Christmas to you and Harry and I hope Santa brings you everything you ever wanted,’ Thomas Jr, 52, told DailyMailTV

Thomas Jr told DailyMailTV of the large family Christmases the clan shared in the 1980s when Meghan was a child, and reminisced about the clan gathering at the home of her grandmother Jeanette Ragland for dinner.

He said: ‘[Meghan’s mother] Doria would cook the Christmas dinner. Doria and her family were probably the biggest anchors of family unity when it came to holidays.

‘Their entire family would get together over at Doria’s mom’s house and our family hadn’t done that for many years when I was growing up. We just did that a few times as young children in Chicago.

‘But as far as when Meghan was a child, Doria has a big family and everybody got together – her sisters, her dad, her grandfather, her mom and then of course us and Meghan.

‘There was always that big family homey feeling because everybody was happy, everybody was in a good mood, everybody left their baggage outside the door and it was all about family which was pretty important. It was nice.’

He said his father would make stockings for Meghan and said they would all share cookies and milk on Christmas Eve, while the house would be decorated with a ‘huge, ginormous Christmas tree’.

Meghan, he said, adored Christmas and would receive piles of gifts from her besotted parents – both of whom instilled a love of the festive season in their daughter that still endures today.

‘Doria gave Meghan a love of big Christmas family celebrations but I think we all did as well,’ Thomas Jr told DailyMail.com.

‘My father and Doria – the few Christmases we had together, we made the best of what we had whether it was at three different houses that year or one house.’

He added: ‘My dad really likes Christmas. It was the one time of the year for him to really shine and I guess if my dad had one favorite day of the year, it would be Christmas.

‘He goes really upbeat and Santa Claus-y. His favorite holiday of the year is Christmas.’

But the 52-year-old fears his ailing 74-year-old father might spend this Christmas alone at his Rosarito, Mexico, home without so much as a card from Meghan for company.

Thomas Jr, who was reconciled with his father in a California meeting that was exclusively revealed by DailyMail.com earlier this year, says he hopes Meghan will put any animosity aside and contact him.

The 52-year-old cannot join his father himself because he has already agreed to join his fiancée Darlene Blount, 38, and her son for the festivities but says Markle Sr would be welcome if he wanted to come to their home in Grants Pass.

He said: ‘I hope he doesn’t spend Christmas by himself in Mexico and at least goes to Samantha but I think he’ll probably be a little hurt if he doesn’t get a Christmas card.

Thomas Jr told DailyMail.com of the large family Christmases the Markle-Ragland clan shared in the 1980s when Meghan was a child revealing how Meghan (pictured with her father, and half nephews when she was young) adored Christmas and would receive piles of gifts from her besotted parents

Markle Jr’s plea comes just as his father, Thomas Markle Sr, revealed on Monday that he has been desperately trying to reach out to his daughter and make amends

‘I sincerely hope Meghan does reach out to my dad, at least for Christmas. This family rift has been going on for quite some time now and I think Christmas is the one time of year when you do need to get together with your family – good, bad or indifferent, put everything aside and at least enjoy the holidays.’

For himself, he says he doesn’t believe he’ll be contacted by his famous half-sister but hopes that might change in the New Year.

He told DailyMail.com: ‘I’d be really surprised if I got a call from Meghan at Christmas or a Christmas card but that would be really nice.

‘With everything that’s gone on for the last two years, I think the New Year is the perfect time for a new beginning for her, for the family.

‘Just to start over, start fresh and make some sort of contact. Definitely to let my father see his grandchild when it’s born.

‘I would feel pretty honored if she opened up her door and invited the Markles in to see their new relative, the new baby. It would mean a lot.’

To the rest of the clan, he added: ‘Let’s forget the rifts of the past, the bad things of the past and go on and be friendly to each other again. Let’s be the family that we should be.’
