Posting more than eight holiday photos counts as spam to your friends, survey reveals
IT'S official – posting more than EIGHT holiday photos on social media is seen as 'spamming', a study has found.
A poll of 2,000 Instagram users found that rather than enjoying their friend's travel snaps, followers are more likely to be annoyed by a deluge of pictures.
And two thirds think seeing too many of someone else’s holiday snaps leaves them feeling like they are missing out.
Despite this, the research, by MSC Cruises, revealed 54 per cent do like to see friends’ holiday photos, with these getting the most engagement on Instagram.
They prove to be more popular than pictures of pets and group shots with friends, although 28 per cent of Insta-fans claim their carefully-crafted shots don’t get as many likes as they deserve.
It also emerged beautiful landscapes, iconic locations and images of the sea are the most loved types of holiday imagery.
And New York was named the best city for taking Instagram-worthy shots, followed by Paris and Rome – with Barcelona and Venice rounding out the top five.
But London didn’t make it to the top 10, losing out to cities like Tokyo and Monaco.
THE TOP 10 CITIES FOR TAKING THE BEST INSTAGRAM PICS
1. New York
10. Abu Dhabi
Social influencer and MSC Cruises ambassador Brock Jeffery, from Brock and Betty, said: “We love to travel the world and share our experiences with friends and family, and it’s great to see that holidays provide the best places to take pictures.
“However, we’re conscious not to flood our social channels with too many images as we know it can feel too much.
"We try to post once a day as this gives our followers a good idea of where we are and what we’re doing, without spamming them with too much to see.”
“Travelling by cruise ship is perfect as you can be in a new port nearly every day – giving you plenty of opportunities to fill up your feed with beautiful images, but obviously just make sure you’re not sending too many home.”
It comes after we revealed these ridiculously fake social media photos.
For more baffling galleries, these people are definitely having a worse day than you based on their stripy sunburn and terrible passport photos.
And the world's worst haircuts show people can get themselves in a real tangle when getting a new look.
