Prince Philip WAS dazzled by low sunlight before crash, reveal new pictures of 'dangerous' junction near Sandringham

The Duke of Edinburgh reportedly claimed he was "dazzled" by the sun after rolling his Land Rover into the path of a Kia hatchback last week.

His 4×4 was sent spinning across the road before landing on its side near the road's edge.

Witness Roy Warne, 75, later told how the Duke cited sunlight as an excuse for his crash in a roadside chat with his wife.

Mr Warne said: "The sun was very, very low. It was almost at horizon level and it was very strong.

"I was wearing sunglasses and where he was coming from he would have been looking straight into the sun. I can understand how it happened."

The new shots show the piercing winter sun shining between the trees lining the A149 near Sandringham, Norfolk.

The revelation comes a day after a woman who broke her wrist in the smash said the sky was "overcast" – and claims she's "lucky to be alive."

Mum-of-two Emma Fairweather, 46, said she "couldn't stop screaming" as the Duke's Land Rover smashed into her pal's Kia near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
