UK weather: Scorching heatwave to return this Saturday as temperatures soar into next week

Warm sunshine will replace blustery showers as warm air moves across the continent on Saturday. This week Britain saw one of the sweetest June’s on record after a month’s worth of rain fell in just one day. Into next week temperatures are expected to remain in the high teens with highs of 22C on Tuesday and Friday.

Meanwhile another chart shows tempreatures could exceed 25C by next Friday.

The Met Office UK long range forecast say the weather will take a turn on Sunday with a mix of Sunshine and showers.

However into next week the south and south east will remain warm and dry.

It said:”Sunday is expected to be another day of sunshine and showers.

“Some of these could be heavy with a risk of thunder, most likely in the west or northwest of the UK.”

It added: “Occasional rain or showers remain likely in western and northwesterly areas, and it will probably be rather windy here at times, though there will be dry and bright spells too.

“However, south and southeasterly areas are likely to stay dry, bright and warm for more of the time.”

However Britons will have to wait for the turn in weather with further spells of wet weather forecast for the next couple of days.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: “Unfortunately there’s more heavy rain expected over the next few days.

“Most areas will see rain at some point on Wednesday and Thursday will also be unsettled.

“By Friday there will be a mix of sunshine and showers with the picture improving into the weekend.

“But it will still be cool with outbreaks of rain.”

Yellow weather warnings are in place across the UK until Thursday as torrential rain continues across parts of England, Scotland and Wales.

Flood alert and thunderstorm warnings were also issued for some areas.

Meanwhile BBC Weather’s outlook for the weekend forecasts warmer temperatures.

The broadcaster said: “On Friday, rain is likely to continue over Scotland for a time before clearing north.

“For the rest of the UK, it should be brighter and perhaps drier, although there will still be some showers around, especially in the west.

“A little warmer over the weekend with some sunshine at times.

“There will be further showers or longer spells of rain, especially across western areas.”
