One of the main reasons to get excited about fashion houses collaborating with beauty brands other than the obvious “Yay, more makeup!” mentality is that such unions are an excuse to buy high-end designs on a leftovers-for-dinner budget. That’s why we collectively freaked out when Nars x Erdem launched and when MAC announced its collab with Jeremy Scott. We’ve got another one on the horizon — and it comes from cool-girl-approved label Proenza Schouler.
The low-key, put-together label is beloved by the likes of Ashley Graham, Jennifer Aniston, and Emma Watson. According to WWD, codirectors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez will have full control over their beauty line, which will drop this Summer. In a statement, the creative team said the release is inspired by the colorful geometric pieces by minimalist 20th-century artists such as Carmen Herrera and Ellsworth Kelly. Sounds very chic, indeed.

According to the duo, “Lancome has always represented the epitome of luxury beauty products, so it is like a dream come true to be able to collaborate with such an iconic and historic brand.”
That praise was reciprocated by Lancome’s general manager, Francoise Lehmann, who said that Proenza has “the manifesto of a strong, free femininity. The idea of empowerment is at the heart of their values, just as it has always been at the heart of the Lancome philosophy.”
This news comes just two months after Proenza launched Arizona ($100), a floral fragrance that gives a nod to the American Southwest. Given the success and interest in that project, we’re sure the line’s first foray into makeup will generate buzz, too.
There’s no word on what this collection will entail, but we will update this post as more news comes out.
