Strictly Come Dancing viewers saw Aljaz Skorjanec and his celebrity partner Clara Amfo leave the BBC competition yesterday. The 30-year-old professional dancer and radio star became the fifth couple to be eliminated after finding themselves in the dreaded dance off against Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer, following their Jive routine to River Deep – Mountain High by Tina Turner.

And now his former celebrity partner Emma Weymouth, who is now the Marchioness of Bath, has spoken out about her experience on the show and how she keeps in contact with him.

Speaking to Tatler for the January issue, the 34-year-old model revealed she had video chats with the dancer while in lockdown with her family.

Emma, who shares two children with her husband, Ceawlin Thynn, the 8th Marquess of Bath, said of Aljaz: “He’s been a real rock through lockdown.

“We all had Strictly Zoom quizzes to keep our spirits up,” she told the publication.

Aljaz and Emma made it to week seven in the ballroom dancing competition last year, in the series which was ultimately won by Kelvin Fletcher and his professional partner Oti Mabuse.

During their time together, Emma became good friends with her partner and his wife Janette Manrara, and were often seen socialising together before lockdown.

Meanwhile, Janette, who is living apart from Aljaz in order to take part in the show safely amid the coronavirus pandemic, appeared emotional as he and Clara took to the stage to perform their last dance together.

Taking to Instagram following the programme, the pro dancer pined for her spouse of three years.

“So sad to say goodbye to @claraamfo and @aljazskorjanec!…” her post began, in view of her 388,000 followers.

After congratulating Clara for bringing “so much joy to the dance floor,” the 37-year-old went on to talk about Aljaz.

“And as for my husband, you were a dream partner as always! I absolutely LOVE watching you dance! I cannot wait to hold you tight in my arms! I love you with all my heart!”
