Damian Marley joined hundreds of Native Hawaiians in a protest against the proposed construction of a huge telescope at the summit of Mauna Kea mountain, the tallest peak on Hawaii Island.

The locals are against disrupting the serenity of the sacred Hawaiian volcano, which is believed to be the birthplace of the Hawaiian culture, with the construction of the 30-meter telescope.

The reggae star played his famous father’s classic protest songs “Get Up, Stand Up” and “Positive Vibration”.

Bob Marley‘s son also played his song, “Everybody Wants to Be Somebody.”

Damian Marley is not the first celebrity to protest against the telescope project.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson addressed protesters who have been camped out at the base of Mauna Kea last week.

“The protesters are so peaceful but they’re so powerful,” Marley said. “No one’s going anywhere, so I’m optimistic that something positive is gonna come out of this.”
