Eamonn Holmes, 60, and Ruth Langsford, 60, have been firm fixtures on This Morning since 2006. The presenting duo often front the ITV show on Fridays and cover Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s holidays.

The TV anchor has since taken to Twitter and responded to a job advertisement as he quizzed if he could “apply” for the role.

It comes after he and his other half talked about Border Biscuits on the programme.

The company is currently in search of someone to taste biscuits but they will in turn receive a £40,000 salary.

The official This Morning account penned: “Fancy being paid £40K to be an official biscuit taster? Well you’re in luck, as that’s exactly what one company is offering right now!

“But what’s your favourite biscuit?”

The biscuit brand reposted the tweet and wrote: “DREAM JOB ALERT @BorderBiscuits are looking for a Master Biscuiteer to join their team…@EamonnHolmes @RuthieeL approved!”

In view of his one million Twitter followers Eamonn replied: “Can I apply?”

The biscuit brand remarked: “Thanks for your interest in the role Eamonn. We think you might have what it takes! What skills do you think you could bring to the Border Biscuits team?”

Eamonn explained: “A massive enthusiasm and an even more MASSIVE APPETITE! Overtime would never be a problem.”(sic)

They replied: “Well we can’t ask for much more than that!”

The cheeky back and forth comes after Eamonn and Ruth spoke about the offer on This Morning last week.

Ruth told viewers: “Border Biscuits are looking for an official biscuit taster and you get paid £40,000 a year.”

Her husband quickly shot his hand up in the air, while nodding his head.

“I only work Fridays now,” Eamonn chuckled.

The small-screen star then dished on his favourite biscuit to tuck into with a cup of tea.

The This Morning host said: “A chocolate digestive is hard to beat. I do like fillings though, I love custard creams but even more equisitie is an orange cream.”

Elsewhere, Eamonn celebrated working in television four decades ago this month.

He marked the special occasion by sharing an old black and white picture of himself from his early days on Instagram.

Eamonn captioned the snap, which he shared with his 689,000 followers: “My journey in TV all began in Oct 1980.

“40 years ago this very month with my beloved Ulster Television.”
