The Foo Fighters have released a brand-new music video the song “Waiting on a War” from their forthcoming fifth studio album, Medicine At Midnight.
Directed by Paola Kudacki, the video intersperses footage of Gen-Z out in the world, living their best lives, immediately juxtaposed by the same crowd roaming the deserted and crumbling ruins of what looks to be a dystopian future on the other side of the “war” being referenced in the song.
“As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington D.C., I was always afraid of war,” shared frontman Dave Grohl. “I had nightmares of missiles in the sky and soldiers in my backyard, most likely brought upon by the political tension of the early 1980’s and my proximity to the Nation’s Capitol. My youth was spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future.”
The video has garnered nearly half a million views on YouTube since its release on Tuesday, January 19. The new record is slated to drop on February 5 and is available for pre-order now.
