Gorka Marquez and Gemma Atkinson are one of Strictly’s most successful love stories, welcoming their first child together six months ago.

But the Spanish dancer has told new magazine they have no plans to walk down the aisle any time soon.

“We’re good as we are. Some people get married and it doesn’t mean anything. We’re happy… but we’ll see,” said the 29-year-old.

However, it seems Gemma might have other ideas. The 35-year-old brought up the subject of marriage on a video the couple made during filming for the Strictly Christmas special at Leeds Castle in December.

Standing in front of the castle, Gemma said: “Gorks wants to get married here,” to which he replied: “I didn’t say I want to get married here. I said I want to get married to you but not here, I want to get married in Spain.”

And last August, OK! reported how Gemma was keen to make it official, saying: “I’m the only one who’s not a Marquez in the family. I said to him [Gorka], ‘You do know now we need to get married otherwise I’m not part of the family’. He’s like: ‘Yeah, we have time, it’s OK’.”

Gemma and Gorka met when she was on Strictly in 2017 and went public with their relationship in February 2018. They quickly moved in together and baby Mia arrived last July.

But after a whirlwind start to their romance, it seems Gorka is keen to put the brakes on, revealing they won’t be adding to their brood yet, either.

“We’d love to have a sibling for Mia, but not yet. Let us enjoy Mia and our time with her,” he said.

The new dad is clearly smitten with his little girl, and shared a heart-melting video last week, covering her in kisses as she giggled away. Talking about how parenthood has changed them, he gushed, “Everything you do, the first thing you think about is your baby. We can’t picture a life without her.”

Gorka added that having a baby made him love Gemma even more. “People say when you have a baby it pulls you apart, but from the day we knew Gemma was pregnant it made me appreciate and love her more.”

The dancer is juggling spending time with his family with rehearsals for his new show Firedance, with fellow Strictly dancer Karen Hauer, and admits leaving them for the tour will be a wrench.

“I’m going to have a break in between shows so I can come home and see them,” he told . “And they will come to see me. We’ll make it work.”
