Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson and Love Island star Chris Hughes have split after 16 months together.
So love is officially dead.
The pair are both said to be ‘absolutely fine’, having called it quits a couple of weeks ago as they isolated in separate homes amid the coronavirus crisis.
Sources told Metro.co.uk the pair both came to the mutual agreement the relationship had ‘run its course’ and there was no animosity involved in the split.
It’s understood they feel good about remaining friends following the breakup and we love a happy ending from a sad situation, right?
It comes right as her group promotes latest banger Break Up Song, which is just some eerie, voodoo, freaky coincidence, right?
The news broke earlier today, with reports claiming Jesy and Chris split last month as they went into coronavirus lockdown away from one another.
‘Jesy and Chris split up a couple of weeks ago. It was all very amicable and they’re still really good friends,’ a source told The Sun.
‘They had a chat on the phone about their relationship and both agreed that it felt like it had run its course – they’re both absolutely fine.’
Jesy spoke to The Sunday Telegraph in Australia recently about isolating separately from Chris, but insisted her personal life was trucking along just fine.
She told the publication: ‘Chris isn’t with me right now because he is in isolation with his flatmate, so I haven’t seen him for a while.’
Squashing any problems between the pair, she added: ‘My love life is fine and dandy.’
On 14 March they headed out for a romantic date night, with no hint they were heading for a split, as they cheersed to ‘many happy years’.
The star previously admitted that she didn’t want to rush into moving in with Chris and would rather do it ‘when things feel right’.
However, just because Jesy and Chris were taking their relationship slowly doesn’t mean things aren’t serious between the pair, with Jesy saying: ‘I would definitely love to get married though, absolutely.’
