John Barrowman has apologised for engaging in ‘tomfoolery’ while working on Doctor Who and its spin-off show Torchwood, according to the latest reports.

Lawyers for the star told The Guardian that while the 54-year-old did "not recall" the incidents alleged by two women, his "high-spirited behaviour" was only ever "intended in good humour" in a bid to "'entertain colleagues" on set and backstage.

According to The Guardian, several sources, including two women, claimed that the Dancing On Ice star exposed himself on set. However, the paper reports that witnesses have described the incidents as "inappropriate pranks" and not "anything amounting to sexually predatory behaviour".

In a statement in response to these claims, he said: “With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously.”

This apology comes just a week after a video from a 2015 Doctor Who convention resurfaced.

In the footage, actor Noel Clarke claimed that John would expose himself on the show’s set.

At one point in the clip, we see Noel ask co-star Camille Coduri, who played Jackie Tyler in Doctor Who, whether she remembered the time John allegedly ‘put’ his genitals on her shoulder in the make truck.

To which Camille responds: “Yes, I do. I didn’t want to say. I was being really polite.”

Noel then acts out the alleged scenario, propping his mic on Camille’s shoulder before sitting back down on his chair and saying: “John Barrowman, ladies and gentleman.”

In the clip Noel then adds: “For the record, any men out there do not try that at work. You will be fire and possibly go to jail.”

To which the presenter asks: “So how could John Barrowman get away with it then?” and Camille responds: “It’s because he’s adorable.”

Speaking to The Guardian, Julie Gardner, executive producer on Doctor Who and Torchwood also confirmed that she had received a complaint about John’s actions on-set ‘around 2008’, to which she ‘made clear’ to the former West End star that this would ‘not be tolerated’.

These claims have resurfaced following the BBC’s newly-launched investigation into Noel Clarke, after several people came forward to allege they were “sexually harassed or inappropriately touched” by the actor while on set of Doctor Who.

This is a claim which, Noel, 45, strongly denies.
