Kevin Clifton, 38, announced his departure from Strictly Come Dancing in March but has still expressed his interest about this year’s rumoured line-up. It comes after BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker reacted to the news that he has been predicted to “win” the show should he sign-up.

In view of his 668,000 followers, Dan responded to the claims he would be joining this year’s Strictly, despite the line-up not yet being confirmed.

He tweeted his response with laughing-face emojis, seemingly dismissing the idea.

However, this did not stop celebrities and fans from quizzing the star on whether he had plans to take part in the BBC show.

Kevin cheered on the BBC Breakfast presenter, as he replied: “Yes mate,” followed by a thumbs-up emoji.

Love Island winner Dani Dyer quizzed: “Omg. Are you going on it?”

Dan replied: “You saw my ‘shapes’ on Kilimanjaro. The nation isn’t ready for it.”

Another person chimed: “Dan I would absolutely love to see you on Strictly. You would smash it. I really hope you do it!”

“No pressure then,” another person quipped.

While Dan seemingly appeared to confirm he will not be taking part in the show, bookmakers Paddy Power, have predicted the BBC Breakfast star will reach the final.

The betting agent announced that Dan could appear on the 2020 series, following in the footsteps of his colleagues Mike Bushell who took part last year.

Meanwhile, Kevin has been regularly recording his self-titled podcast The Kevin Clifton Show this year, in which listeners have heard him recall his various Strictly Come Dancing moments with his co-stars.

The Grimsby-born performer was recently joined by his former celebrity dance partner Susan Calman.

The comedian took part in Strictly three years ago, as the dancing duo reminisced about their time together on the show.

Susan revealed there was a particular song that the dance professional had always wanted them to perform on the programme.

But things didn’t go to plan, as she spilled: “I remember you wanted to do Rainbow Connection.”

Kevin interjected: “Yeah I really wanted to do Rainbow Connection.

“Then the next year Joe Sugg and Dianne ended up doing Rainbow Connection, doing a waltz, and I was like, ‘Ahhhhhh’.”

The former ballroom champion claimed Dianne and Joe, who performed together in the 2018 series, got to perform to the song and then ribbed him about it.

Kevin has since addressed whether he had plans to return Strictly following his exit earlier this year.

Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, he explained: “I can’t leave my sister high and dry, and go back on Strictly. But I don’t know. Never say never.

“I’ve made that decision [to leave Strictly]. And it would feel weird if I suddenly went back again.”

Strictly Come Dancing is due to return to BBC One later this year.
