Mel B has quit as a team captain on Celebrity Juice, according to reports.

The 45 year old, who recently revealed she was sent racist hate mail by locals when she bought a house in Marlow, is thought to have left the series over her upcoming "busy" schedule in 2021.

A source close to the pop singer is claimed to have told The Daily Star that she's "loved" her time appearing on the hit ITV show alongside her pals Keith Lemon, a.k.a Leigh Francis, 45, and Holly Willoughby, 39, but her hectic schedule has made it difficult for her to commit to another year.

"Melanie has loved working with Leigh [Keith], Holly and the whole team at Celebrity Juice but next year is going to be very busy for her," the insider said.

A spokesperson for Celebrity Juice is said to have confirmed the news to the same publication as they said: "Mel has been a brilliant team captain and we'd like to thank her for all the laughs.

"We have no doubt she'll be back to banter with Keith as a guest on the show in the near future."

They added: "A brand-new series of Celebrity Juice will be on ITV2 this Autumn with two new team captains and a whole host of guests… watch this space!"

Mel joined the show in 2019 after replacing Paddy McGuinness as team captain to go up against This Morning presenter Holly, who left the show herself earlier this year.

The news comes after a source recently exclusively revealed to OK! online that the Spice Girls – formed of Mel B, Emma Bunton, 44, Geri Horner, 47, and Melanie C, 46 – are plotting to take their show across the globe to unite their fans in the wake of coronavirus.

The insider told us: "There were plans for the band to tour Australia this year but one of the girls didn't feel ready to commit to more shows, especially so far away from home.

"But in the midst of the ongoing global pandemic, the four of them have realised how important it would be for their fans for them to come back and spread positivity and have decided to come together again next year and head out on another tour.

"They're really focussing on Australia right now because they have a huge fanbase there but have actually never toured there so they feel it's owed to them.

"There's discussions about a US leg coming further into 2021 but it's far too early to see if that can go ahead yet."
