GMB: Susanna Reid says Piers Morgan is 'looking slimmer'

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan is reportedly “up in arms” after a top Google executive plans to build a 500 sq ft super-basement, which will act as storage for their attire. Locals have been embroiled in a row over the proposed development for the past six-years.

According to reports, Google European Vice-President Diana Layfield and David McDonald, founder of multi-million-pound software firm Acturis, own the property and have been trying to force their plans through since 2014 despite local opposition.

The development was previously rejected by the council six times.

Since 2014, Layfield and McDonald have put 30 planning applications – two are currently outstanding – and appealed five of those decisions.

They also have plans to build a new conservatory and plan to make other alterations.

The GMB host and his wife Celia Walden have reportedly complained about the risk of flooding, excessive noise, and damage to adjoining properties.

In a letter Piers had called the plans a “concerted and aggressive” plan, adding that the basement was just a cupboard for “storage of winter and summer clothing”.

The TV anchor also said the proposed plans were “excessive and beyond reasonable expectation” for their housing development.

“Never in the recent history of [the road] has a planning proposal been so opposed by the neighbourhood,” he added, according to The Sun.

His comments come as other locals in the area have also issued complaints about the property proposals. has contacted Piers Morgan’s representatives for comment.

Elsewhere, the ITV favourite recently issued an apology to his GMB colleague behind the scenes after an on-air blunder.

Piers had hit out at a camera operator after they didn’t zoom into a Scotch egg he was holding.

It comes after it was claimed that pub-goers will be able to order a round of drinks alongside the savoury dish in Tier 2 areas, once lockdown is lifted.

The GMB presenters were unimpressed by the revelation as they discussed minister George Eustice’s remarks.

But it didn’t take long for Piers to fume at his colleague behind the scenes following a camera issue.

Piers held up his Scotch egg and could be heard shouting: “This Scotch egg… can we show it please?”

The camera then zoomed in on the one Susanna was holding, with Piers moaning: “What about my Scotch egg? Why is she getting the air time?”

Following an ad break, his co-host Susanna Reid explained that he offered an apology to the camera operator.

She said: “We have got a last-minute camera operator on.”

“When I kept banging on about ‘Get my Scotch egg in shot’ – it turns out the poor camera operator is someone who has never done it before, she’s stepping in for someone who’s off sick!” Piers explained.
