Ruth Langsford has returned to social media for a sweet reason following her sister's death.

The This Morning and Loose Women favourite has been keeping a low profile since her sister Julia Johnson passed in June aged 62 following a long illness.

However, she chose to return to Instagram on Sunday to send her well-wishes to Strictly pal Gemma Atkinson after she welcomed her first child with dancer partner, Gorka Marquez.

Taking to Gemma's profile after she announced the news, Ruth wrote in the comments: "Congratulations yummy mummy and daddy!

"A beautiful (I'm sure) baby girl, what a precious gift. Sending you all much love."

It comes after fans had expressed their concern over Ruth, who has been taking some time to herself after the heartbreaking news.

Appearing on This Morning alongside Rylan Clark-Neal following Julia's death, an emotional Eamonn Holmes got back to work while his wife was in mourning.

Remembering his sister in law with a touching tribute on what was also his and Ruth's wedding anniversary, he also took to Instagram to show she was in his thoughts.

Sharing a stunning picture of himself and Ruth on their wedding day alongside bridesmaid Julia, he wrote: "It was the hottest day of the year , June 26th 2010.

"We can't celebrate our anniversary today but we can still remember Julia in the best way, as one of our Bridesmaids, smiling, dancing and singing."

Ruth has remained silent since announcing the sad passing of her sister.

Last month, the 59-year-old shared a picture of them together and said: "My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness.

"My heart is completely broken. She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.

"As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding."
