David Prowse sadly passed away over the weekend and his daughter is opening up about the cause of his death.
In an interview with The Sun, via Deadline, his daughter Rachel, revealed that the Star Wars actor had been hospitalized for the last two weeks with coronavirus.
“It’s horrible that Covid restrictions meant we did not get to see him and say goodbye,” she shared with the paper. “But when we went to collect his stuff from the hospital the nurse said what a cool guy he was. He was such a larger-than-life character. He would have loved to see himself trending on Twitter.”
Rachel also shared that because of his diagnosis and restrictions on funerals during the pandemic, the Prowse family are unable to hold “a big celebration of his life…we are not going to be able to do the send-off we would have wanted for him.”
David, who also had Alzheimer’s, died at age 85 over the weekend, and shortly after, received send offs from co-star Mark Hamill and also Star Wars creator George Lucas.
