Co-op's Christmas food includes posh chipolatas and a hot chocolate bomb

CO-OP shoppers can already start planning their Christmas dinner as the supermarket has given us a glimpse at its festive food.

Tasty grub that customers will be able to tuck into include a hot chocolate bomb, which is a ball of milk chocolate that you pour hot milk over.

As the chocolate starts to melt, a hidden centre of marshmallow pieces will appear in your hot drink.

The Co-op is selling the bombs, which weigh 40g and are available now, for £1.50 each.

They're the same price as what you'd pay for a hot chocolate melting snowman from Home Bargains, which also cost £1.49, or you can find slightly more expensive melting snowmen from Aldi for £1.99.

Sadly, we couldn’t see the melting chocolate bombs on the Co-op website for home delivery – but you should be able to pick them up in stores.

You can use the Co-op shop finder tool to locate your nearest branch.

We’ve asked the supermarket for the relevant calorie information and we’ll update this article when we know more.

But in the meantime, here’s what else you can expect from the Co-op Christmas menu.

Irresistible posh chipolatas in blankets – £3.30 (two packs for £6)

These chipolatas have been wrapped in chestnut and oak smoked streaky bacon with a hint of truffle-flavoured oil.

The Christmas porkers will be in stores from December 16, with six chipolatas per pack.

You can save money by going for regular pigs in blankets though, with Tesco selling a 210g pack of ten for £2.50.

Irresistible cranberry and port flooded pork pie 440g – £4

For a boozy twist to your classic pork pie, the top of this snack has been flooded with a sweet cranberry and port jelly.

Shoppers can pick one up in stores from December 9.

We couldn't see another supermarket selling a pork pie with port, but a pack of four mini pork pies, measuring 200g, from Co-op start from £2.

Irresistible Scottish smoked Loch trout with whisky and honey 100g – £4

Don't fancy turkey or salmon? Try this whisky and honey Scottish smoked Loch trout.

This will be in stores from December 9.

To save cash, a whole trout from Asda without the trimmings costs £2.25 for 230g.

Irresistible burnt caramel sponge 400g – £4.50

This pudding is made up of a moist fudge sponge, served with smooth burnt caramel sauce and gold shimmer.

Shoppers will find this in stores from October 26.

If you shop around, you can save money by buying two mini salted caramel and chocolate melt in the middle puds for £1.79, weighing 276g, at Asda.

Salted caramel croiss’onut – £1

If you've never heard of one, a croiss'onut is a mix between a croissant and a doughnut – although they're more commonly known as a croughnut.

These ones are filled with a salted caramel middle and are available now.

For an alternative, check out these yumnuts from M&S, which are a mix between a yum yum and doughnut – but they are pricier at £1.15 each.
