DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE strong feelings for my daughter’s teacher and miss seeing her now the children are not in school.
She’s in touch, organising online lessons, and I want to tell her how I feel but worry that it would be inappropriate.
My daughter is six and loves her teacher.
She is 29 and goes the extra mile for all the children, but I could tell my daughter was a favourite.
I am a gay woman aged 30 and know she’s also gay after I Facebook-stalked her.
She was cool towards me at first but became more friendly.
I sensed she liked me too.
I used to go into class to hear the children reading and she would make a point of chatting.
I even helped out with a school trip and loved spending the day with her.

DEIDRE SAYS: There is nothing wrong in enjoying a friendship/romance with her but for her sake you need to keep appropriate boundaries while she is still your daughter’s teacher.
Keep friendly chat separate from discussions about lessons, and make sure you have other options so your whole social/relationship focus isn’t on your daughter’s teacher.
My e-leaflet on Gay Resources has ideas.
