Young royals are driving jewellery sales as shoppers flock to buy replica engagement rings, it has been revealed.

The online jeweller, which specialises in royal replicas, has crunched the numbers to reveal that Meghan’s yellow gold ring is now the top seller while sales of glitzy Hollywood styles are down by a considerable 50 per cent.

And while the Royals may be reigning in the style stakes, former FLOTUS Michelle Obama also made it into the top five – with the Queen, and actresses Angelina Jolie and Margot Robbie, listed among the worst sellers.  

It seems brides-to-be are also keen to emulate the Middleton sisters, with Kate and Pippa’s dazzling engagement rings featuring high up on the list.

Jewlr, who created a replica of Meghan Markle’s ring within just two hours of her engagement photo call, also revealed how the style swiftly became its bestselling engagement ring on the site. 

The retailer also revealed that searches for ‘three stone rings’ increased by a massive 270 per cent the week after Meghan and Harry’s engagement last year.

The second top selling celebrity engagement ring is a replica of Princess Eugenie’s ring, followed by a replica of Michelle Obama’s classic solitaire ring, another understated style.  

A replica of Pippa Middleton’s art deco style ring also made the top 5 bestselling list, rising in sales by 40 per cent vs last year.

The online retailer also revealed which celebrity replica styles which had fallen foul with UK consumers.

Listing its worst selling celebrity styles, meanwhile, the list included flashy styles that are lookalikes to rings to those worn by Cardi B, Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga.

Jewlr founder Tony Davis says of the findings, ‘It has been interesting to outline the top selling celebrity replica rings and see the Royals are having such a strong influence on UK sales.

‘With Kate and Wills arrival and the pending nuptials between harry and Meghan, it’s clear to see that Royal mania is hitting fever pitch amongst UK consumers at the moment. 

‘We knew prior to the engagement that Meghan is one of the most influential celebrities for driving our sales in the UK, but it’s interesting to see similar styles to those of Kate and Pippa Middleton’s rings picking up traction in the last few months. 

‘On the contrary, more outlandish Hollywood styles are declining in sales, with Hollywood stars over the top style influence waning in favour of understated classic styles’.
