A model has been left with concussion, a black eye and bruised cheekbones after allegedly being attacked twice on a New Year's Eve night out.

Sarah Longbottom, 36, claims she fell victim to two separate unprovoked attacks from a man and a woman while celebrating the start of 2020 in Rawtenstall, Lancashire.

The mum told LancsLive her face is 'a mess' and is trying to hide it from her young daughter Florence.

She says one of the attacks involved a girl 'throwing her to the floor' in a club, before later 'jumping on her' as she left.

The second incident left Sarah with concussion, a black eye and bruises after a man in his 60s allegedly threw her to the ground before punching and kicking her.

Sarah says that the attack has left her scared to go outside.

"My face is a mess, I've put on loads of make up on because I don't want her to see," Sarah said.

"She's only five and she's autistic, I don't want her to see me like this. I've just put on loads of make up because I don't want her to know, I'll hide it for as long as I can, I do still break down during the day though.

"I don't think I can get the emotion out at the minute, it's hard to process, it was so fast and out of the blue."

Sarah decided to take a last minute trip out to a nightclub on New Year's Eve.

Both her children, Florence, and 14-year-old son Scott, were at her mum's and one of her friends convinced Sarah to go out.

She said: "It was a completely last minute thing, it was after 12 when we went out.

"We went to Revival nightclub, it was a very young crowd, I felt old in there but my friend is much younger than me, she's 22, so it was more her crowd."

While Sarah was dancing and enjoying the first few hours of 2020, the 36-year-old model spotted something that didn't seem quite right.

"I saw an old guy walking round the club," said Sarah.

"He stuck out like a sore thumb, he was in his 60s, I felt old in there so he definitely stood out.

"Later I felt him touch my leg, the bouncers spotted it straight away and came over to tell him that he was going to get thrown out."

Revival security handled the situation but for Sarah that wasn't the end of her troubles.

She said: "The next minute this girl threw me on the floor, so the bouncer threw her out too.

"I think she was jealous, I put myself out there, being a model and my job relying on my looks."

Despite the attack Sarah and her friend continued with the celebrations before leaving the club at closing time and walking out of Revival just after 4am.

But Sarah claims she had two people waiting for her outside the club.

"I came outside and the girl who had attacked me before jumped on me," said Sarah.

"I managed to get her off me and I started walking towards my home, it was then that I felt something smash into me and throw me on the floor.

"It was the man from the club, I felt him kicking me and punching me in the head, it was awful, I could hear my friend screaming for him to get off.

"I managed to run away down the side of the church and I heard him following me."

Sarah was able to lose her attacker but was left shaken.

"It's disgusting, I feel afraid to go out," she said.

Sarah came away with severe bruising on her forehead, a black eye and concussion.

She said: "I'm a professional model, I rely on my looks for work. I had just secured a job as the face of Cosmetic Couture and I was excited for 2020.

"This has set me back a bit. The doctor said the swelling will go down after 10 days so I will have to wait till then to work but I don't feel comfortable being in front of a camera right now anyway."

Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed that a woman has made a report to them concerning the incident.

A spokesperson said: "A woman has reported being attacked by a man and a woman in a nightclub on Bacup Road shortly after 4am.

"We are currently investigating."

Sarah has asked witnesses to the attack to come forward.
