Mrs Hinch, aka Sophie Hinchliffe, is a cleaning social media sensation, frequently entertaining her 3.2 million followers with useful hacks and tricks on how to keep a tidy home.
So far this year the ‘cleanfluencer’ has provided us with some fabulous nuggets of wisdom and owing to the current nationwide lockdown we all now have rather a lot of time on our hands to clean and a fresh incentive to kill germs.
Therefore we thought we’d take a look back at some of the best tips the housework guru has provided us with this year to inspire our lockdown cleaning.
1) The areas we forgot to clean
Back in January the cleaning queen pointed out five different areas that can be the most neglected when doing your housework routine and shared her top tips to get things sparkling.
Using a blend of her favourite Zoflora anti-bacterial disinfectant Mrs Hinch got to work picking out the grooves in the radiator, door handles, light switches, kitchen cupboard doors and her doormat.
She described light switches as “one of the biggest germ collectors” and we will now be sure to clean the areas she highlighted more frequently.
2) How to protect home from coronavirus
Speaking to her 3.2 million followers, the social media star shared that she has installed a hand sanitiser station by the front door of her house which is mandatory for everyone that enters to use.
She wrote on the image of that station that she shared on her Instagram Stories: "I have [had] hand sanitiser on this shelf as you walk in the front door for the last week or so! Everyone has to use it when they enter and exit our house for now.”
She then continued: ”I recommend you do it too guys! Why not! Doesn't look pretty but who cares!"
The star shared this tip before lockdown in the UK commenced but it is still useful to do now as a reminder to any family member to kill germs on their hands upon entry if they have been out to the shops or to do exercise.
3) How to store your bedding
One of the most tedious household tasks is folding your bedsheets, but Mrs Hinch was here to help in 2020.
Sharing her trick on her Instagram, the star explained how she groups all her bed linen sets into the pillow case to stop them getting mixed up in the cupboard.

She captioned it: "Where do I keep my fresh bedding? I store the whole fresh bed set into the matching pillow case!"
So basically Mrs Hinch has created a nifty trick that means that there will be an end to your mismatched duvet covers and pillows. Hooray!
4) How to have perfect curtain pleats
Mrs Hinch’s curtain pleats look perfect, and earlier this month Mrs Hinch took to her Instagram stories to share their secret. She usually uses toilet roll holders, which are definitely not an option these days, but at that time she explained that she "didn't have enough" so went on eBay and snapped up some pipe insulation.
"I didn't have any toilet rolls empty or spare so I bought a big tube of pipe insulation and cut it down," she revealed lifting up the top of her curtain to show off her clever hack.
She said "It's slight thicker and quicker” than toilet roll, which is good to know as that stuff is like gold dust these days.
5) How to clean mirrors
Mrs Hinch shared how she cleaned her mirrors using Autoglym Fast Glass, a product designed to be used on cars.
In a short video Mrs Hinch writes “Let’s see what all the fuss is about” before the video shows her spraying it onto the mirrors.
The product describes itself on the bottle as being suitable for cleaning: "all automotive glass, acrylic, perspex and plastic windows.”
Autoglym says of the product: “Fast Glass is a highly effective cleaner, free of abrasives, waxes and silicones which leaves no residues but a crystal clear finish.
“This cleaner is perfect for use inside and out and cuts through dirt easily removing road grime, insect remains, tree sap, oil, grease and bird droppings.”
Mrs Hinch buffed the mirrored glass with a cloth revealing a sparkling clean surface below.
The mother then later proceeded to comment on her story: “So it’s actually for cars but I’m impressed! Never used this before, it’s amazing!
6) How to make your jewellery sparkle
According to the star all you need to make your jewellery sparkle once more is white wine vinegar and baking soda which, if you don’t already have in your cupboard, should cost around £2 altogether.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the cleaning whiz posted before-and-after snaps of a selection of jewellery. In the first part of the image the silver is tarnished and darkened, but in the second it is as good as new.
She also posted a video on how to achieve the great results she did. Writing across the video footage of her cleaning the items she wrote: “Time to clean my jewellery.
“Soak your pure silver bracelets, rings, earrings in a mixture of 1/2 cup white vinegar and two tablespoons baking soda for 2-3 hours.
“Rinse them under cold water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.” We will definitely be trying this!
7) How to clean beauty sponges
Another thing Mrs Hinch showed us how to clean this year was beauty sponges. After seeking help from her 3.3 million followers, the star found the perfect hack.
She wrote on Instagram: "One of the most popular answers guys was: Pop the beauty blenders into an old sock, tie with a hairband and chuck into the washing machine! So I'm gonna give it a go!"

After her washing was done Sophie was excited to see if the cleaning hack had worked and filmed herself unveiling the results with one hand.
The cleanfluencer was thrilled as she took the sponges out of the wash and they looked good as new. She wrote: "I'm impressed! Thanks guys."
8) How to clean hairbrushes
Mrs Hinch also shared a brilliant hack for removing all of the dead hair from her hairbrushes.
The blonde star first uses a comb to remove all the hair from the brush bristles.
Following this she then puts them in her sink and covers them with hot, but not boiling, water. In the water, Mrs Hinch puts in washing up liquid and a tablespoon of vinegar and leaves it to work its magic.
The cleaning star uses vinegar and washing up liquid in order to kill the germs, and she leaves them to sit in the water for “at least an hour”.
This gives the process enough time for the grime to be released from the clutches of the brushes. The mum-of-one tries to do this once a month, and we are going to try too!
9) How to make your bed flawlessly
If you're anything like us, you probably agree that the bed is the most important part of the home.
The Essex-born star makes her bed fresh every morning, and she showed fans her handy tip for changing the bed sheets without help. She said: "I make a corner puppets and pull it back on itself.
“I do this with the duvet cover too! Turn it inside out and grab the corners and then pull it through.”
Because she turns the covers inside out, she can roll the covers over the pillow or duvet rather than try to stuff them.
The blonde bombshell also shared her hack for making your bed look perfectly made, which includes using textured sheets and pillow cases.
They are made in a fabric called seersucker which is puckered so that it doesn’t appear creased and this is the reason that she has a small ironing board, she explained to fans.
