These skies are really friendly.
A new study by flight cost-comparison site Jetcost found that 26 percent of 4,664 American adults surveyed — about 1,213 people — have shagged while flying to keep themselves entertained.
Of that sum, roughly 788 said they did it in the airplane’s bathrooms, while slightly over 400 people did the deed in their seats.
It’s not just on board. As Jetcost reported last year, 10 percent of nearly 5,000 travelers surveyed said they banged in the airport before boarding.
Asked why they decided to get down and dirty while flying, respondents’ reasonings varied. Some simply said it was to satisfy a fantasy, while others boasted they wanted to join the “mile-high club.” Others, meanwhile, said they enjoyed the thrill that they might get busted in the act.
About 250 respondents claimed that airplane staff had indeed caught them midcoitus.
The majority of those surveyed who reported having sex on a plane — more than 1,000 of them — said they shared the experience with a partner. Eight percent said they hooked up with a friend, 5 percent claimed it was a random encounter with a stranger and 3 percent fessed up to having done it with a staff member on the flight.
