Princess Anne has worked on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II since she was 18-years-old. She has a close relationship with her parents and a body language expert suggested she has a lot in common with Prince Philip.

Princess Anne has always appeared to have a close relationship with her family.

Instead of choosing further education, she began working for the Royal Family as soon as she left school.

This meant the royal carried out her first official engagement more than 51 years ago, in 1969.

She has stepped out for many events and the Princess Royal is often considered among the hardest working royals.

Both Princess Anne and Prince Philip had key senior royal roles for many years.

Prince Philip officially retired from royal duties in 2017 and has not been seen out very often since then.

However, pictures with Princess Anne over the years show their close relationship.

Body language expert Judi James explained how their similarities may have helped them stay close.

“Historically, Anne has always been known as being closest to Prince Philip,” Judi told Express.co.uk.

“Like her father, Anne appears to be someone stoic and dependable but also unfussy and upbeat as a companion.”

She revealed the duo may have taken a similar approach to how they worked as part of the Royal Family.

Judi added: “She is very much the chip off the old block as far as Philip is concerned.

“Their body language throws up many more similarities, suggesting a very like-minded approach to life and being part of the Firm.”

Both royals have regularly joined the Queen at official events.

Since Prince Philip retired, the expert claimed Princess Anne may have stepped up to take his place when with the Queen.

The likeness in their royal roles may help the Queen show a more relaxed side while at engagements.

“Like her father, Anne appears to make the Queen laugh,” the expert continued.

“Most poses between the two women suggest a shared sense of humour, bringing out a side of the Queen that we rarely get to glimpse.

“Like Philip, Anne often looks on the brink of a wry and slightly cynical smile.

“This more down-to-earth and even irreverent approach should be exactly what the Queen needs to keep her happy and grounded.”
