Around this time last year, the American territory of Puerto Rico was dealt a devastating blow in the form of Hurricane Maria. It decimated the island all around, killed thousands of residents, and left many more homeless. This has also resulted in many tourists avoiding Puerto Rico for their next vacation spot. But with a year having gone by since Hurricane Maria wrecked havoc on the island, it seems like there’s a new push to bring tourists back.
The Puerto Rico Tourism Company has created the My Puerto Rico app in partnership with ALICE Platform, a hotel operations business. The app helps to bring together Puerto Rico’s hotels in one place. This makes things easier for tourists trying to find a place to stay on the island.

The My Puerto Rico app allows tourists to choose the hotel that they’re staying at, where they can then access features specific to their hotel. Travelers can plan future outings, ask a concierge for advice, book a nanny, make dinner reservations, and learn more about activities they can do throughout Puerto Rico. It helps tourists experience the island thoroughly without missing out on anything.
In addition to everything mentioned above, the app has a messaging system to allow tourists the ability to communicate directly with their hotel either through the app or via SMS. This means that a tourist can send a message to the front desk for room service, to get more towels, or inform them about arriving early or late to the hotel.
This app proves what’s already been suspected — Puerto Rico is in the midst of a strong marketing campaign to help bring tourists to the American-owned territory just one year after Hurricane Maria. My Puerto Rico is said to have been created by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company in an attempt to showcase the island as a modern destination that has fully recovered from Maria’s devastating destruction.
Those that plan to visit Puerto Rico in the future can download the My Puerto Rico app for their smartphone free of charge from the App Store or Google Play.
