This is what 60 looks like: A fashion designer who commutes between cities swears by taking a jet lag cure

  • Fashion designer Louise Kennedy lives between Dublin and London
  • Taking a jet lag supplement keeps her more energetic than the 20 year olds
  • She has a bespoke facial once a month to plump skin and follows a skin regime

Fashion designer Louise Kennedy is single and splits her time between Dublin and London. She runs her eponymous label across five stores.

JETLAG SUPPLEMENT

MY colleagues in their 20s and 30s ask me where I get my energy from. I take a supplement called Revive Active (£49.95, for one month, reviveactive.com). It puts back what your cells lose with age, with 26 active ingredients, including copper, magnesium and vitamin C, that boost your immune system and energy levels.

FACIALS AND SKINCARE

I have a bespoke facial once a month, with therapist Olga Kochlewska, to plump up my skin. I also invest in a ten-minute daily skincare regime, using Biologique Recherche cleanser, Lotion P50 toner and moisturiser, (prices vary, skinbyolga.ie). Plus, I love Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Contour Serum, which has an amazing brightening effect (£66, lookfantastic.com).

ANNUAL FASTING RETREAT

once a year I go to a clinic in Marbella, called Buchinger Wilhelmi, (buchinger- wilhelmi.com). It’s a two-week therapeutic fasting programme, which helps to close down the digestive system and rejuvenate the cell tissue. For me, it’s a reboot and rest before another busy fashion season kicks off. I can’t wait to go back after the quarantine is lifted.

UP YOUR STEP COUNT

Physically, I feel stronger than at 40. I’m much more health conscious, but I also take time to relax and walk more. It’s hard to have a hobby, as I travel so much for work, but walking is the one thing I can do anywhere. I aim to do 15,000 steps a day. It’s good for me physically and mentally.

CHIC MID-LIFE TRAINERS

No one bats an eye if you come into a board meeting in a great pair of trainers these days. Because of all the walking I do, I invest in good-looking pairs in all colours from designer brands such as Chanel and Dior, but also on the High Street — Converse do some lovely ones. They are a gamechanger for a 40-plus woman.
