Over the festive period many will have to get the budget to stretch even further because of Christmas presents, food and more.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) chance the payment dates over the Christmas and New Year period.

So if you’re reliant on those payments you might want to take note of the change.

Benefits, including Universal Credit and Child Benefits, are usually paid by the UK government on a regular basis straight into your bank.

But if your payment date falls on a bank holiday or weekend you’re payment date will change.

Instead, it will usually be paid the first working day before the payment – but this could be different for those claiming Tax Credits or Child Benefit.

Luckily, the DWP has made a list available of the revised Christmas and New Year payment dates, as reported by Daily Record.

However, the DWP still has to confirm whether there will be any changes to State Pension payment dates.
