Amber Heard says Aquaman didnt want her in sequel and denies Depp secured role

Amber Heard has denied claims ex-husband Johnny Depp, 58, secured her part in Aquaman.

The actress, 36, starred as Mera opposite Jason Momoa in the superhero film which was released in 2018.

On Tuesday (May 17), Depp's lawyer, Camille Vasquez, suggested that the Edward Scissorhands actor was the reason she landed the role.

Vasquez asked: "Johnny Depp got you Aquaman didn't he?"

"I got Aquaman for myself," Heard responded.

Speaking to the court about Aquaman on Monday (May 16), Heard claimed she had to "fight really hard" to remain a part of the sequel.

"I had to fight to, I fought really hard to stay in the movie, they didn’t want to include me in the film."

When asked whether she was allowed to shoot for the role, she admitted: "A very pared-down version of that role, yes."

The 36-year-old confessed they took away a large part of her role – particularly action scenes.

"‘They took away a lot…I was given a script and given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another, they basically took a bunch out of my role."

"They just removed a bunch out."

When Depp took the stand a few weeks prior, Heard's lawyer read out a text that suggested Depp was angry at his ex-wife for going to work.

Depp assured: "This is not necessarily an angry text, it's just 'why do you deviate from our agreement', it's not about movies. How do you think she got Aquaman sir?"

Despite Heard keeping her role in Aquaman, the same couldn't be said for Depp and his projects.

The Alice in Wonderland actor was replaced as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and was famously dropped from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

A petition calling for Heard's removal from Aquaman has amassed over 4.2million signatures so far.

Depp, who was married to Heard, 36, from 2015 to 2017, is suing his ex-wife for defamation because of an op-ed she published in the Washington Post in 2018.

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million (£40m), while Heard is countersuing her ex-spouse for $100 million (£809m).

The trial continues.
