Blue Ivy can add another achievement to her résumé. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s eight-year-old daughter has officially been nominated for her first ever Grammy.
As noted by People, Blue Ivy Carter’s name was missed off of the initial 2021 Grammy Award nominations list. However, Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl” received a nod in the Best Music Video category, and Blue Ivy’s name has since been added to the Grammy Awards website, via Associated Press. Not only does Blue Ivy perform on the track, but she also received a co-writing credit.
This isn’t Blue Ivy’s first nomination or win for her songwriting efforts. In 2019, the multi-talented eight-year-old won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award along with the co-writers of “Brown Skin Girl”—SAINt JHN, WizKid, and Blue Ivy’s mom, Beyoncé—at the BET Soul Train Awards. And earlier this year, Blue took home Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration at the NAACP Awards, and the BET Her Award, both of which she shares with her collaborators on the popular song.
In 2020, Blue Ivy moved into the audiobook narration field, by recording the Amazon Audible version of the hit children’s book Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry. Per Hair Love‘s Audible page, the book is “an ode to loving your natural hair―and a celebration of daddies and daughters everywhere.” Fans were obviously elated when author Cherry announced Blue Ivy’s new role on social media.
