Harry Styles and Lily James are believed to be in talks with streaming giant Amazon to appear in an on-screen production of LGBTQ+ novel, My Policeman.

The currently unnamed film will see Dunkirk actor Harry, 26, take the lead role of handsome policeman, Tom, while Lily, 31, will take the lead female role.

It's been reported that Amazon has agreed to work with Berlanti Schechter Productions to produce the movie.

Collider revealed that Tony Award-winning writer Michael Grandage is to direct the film written by Ron Nyswaner while Greg Berlanti will produce the movie.

It's said that production will commence in the upcoming spring with filming taking place in England.

My Policeman is set in the 1950s when teacher Marion [Lily James] instantly falls in love with the policeman, who Harry will portray.

However, when Tom first meets museum curator Patrick, his eyes are opened to a whole new world and he's left in a difficult situation.

Despite falling in love with Patrick, homosexuality was illegal in the years the book was set, which leads Tom to question whether he should be in a relationship with Marion.

As a result of his heartache, both Marion and Patrick are forced to share their lover.

The unnamed film will be set in the late 1990s, when an elderly Patrick arrives at the home of Marion and Tom as they explore the events from the previous 40 years.

Harry, who was seen carrying a copy of the My Policeman novel earlier this year made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster hit Dunkirk.

Most recently the Cheshire-lad was announced to star in Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling alongside the likes of Florence Pugh and Dakota Johnson.

Styles will once again take the lead in the upcoming film, a psychological thriller set in the 1950s which follows a young married couple – with Harry's character withholding a dark secret from his wife.

Lily's latest film Rebecca, for Netflix, is to drop on the service next month alongside Call Me By Your Name star Armie Hammer.

She became a household name after taking the lead role in the 2018 hit, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again alongside Dame Julie Walters and Cher.
