Khalid has been productive in recent months. After teasing it last month, the singer-songwriter finally released the new song, which is titled “OTW”, on Friday, April 20. Rappers Ty Dolla $ign and 6lack appear as feature guests on the seductive song.
The nearly four-and-a-half-minute song finds the trio doting on their significant others and making promises of constant support. Khalid takes over the first verse as well as the chorus, while Ty tackles the second verse with pitch-perfect raps. On the other hand, 6lack raps about helping his girlfriend on the third and final verse.
“Put it in drive, I’ll be outside, I’ll be on the way/ I’ll be on the way/ You can meet me in five, I’ll be online, I’ll be a-all day/ I’ll be a-all day,” Khalid croons. “Put it in drive, I’ll be outside, I’ll be on the way/ I’ll be on the way/ You can meet me in five, I’ll be online, I’ll be a-all day/ I’ll be a-all day.”
It’s unclear whether the new song will be a standalone single or be included on an album. Khalid himself has collaborated with a slew of musicians like Sabrina Claudio, Normani Kordei and Swae Lee after releasing his 2017 debut EP “American Teen”. Most recently, he joined forces with Billie Eilish on the latter’s track “Lovely”.
Besides releasing new music, Khalid is currently gearing up for a North America tour in support of his EP. The 20-date tour, which is dubbed “The Roxy Tour”, will kick off on May 1 in Portland and wrap up on June 7 in Raleigh. Tickets went on sale to general public on December 2, 2017. The “Location” crooner will not be alone during the tour as boyband PRETTYMUCH is set to join him as the opening act.
