It’s been almost one week since Malcolm McCormick, better known as Mac Miller, died from an apparent drug overdose. The world is still mourning the beloved rapper’s death, and the grief continues as chilling details about that tragic day are revealed.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the 26-year-old musician was dead for hours before someone discovered his body in the bedroom of his San Fernando Valley home and called 911. Apparently, Mac had a party into the early morning hours of September 7, the day he died, but paramedics didn’t arrive to the house until around noon that same day.

He was pronounced dead on the scene and cops noted that it appeared that the house was thoroughly cleaned to hide any signs of drug use.

Medical examiners conducted an autopsy on MM’s body in order to determine the official cause of death, but the results are still pending as they have to wait several weeks for toxicology testing to be completed.

“The autopsy was completed and a cause of death has been deferred pending additional tests,” Los Angeles County coroner’s spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said. “His body has been released.”

A coffin containing Mac’s body was reportedly sent on an airplane from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh, his hometown, where his funeral will be held later this week.
