Unearthed archived NASA footage from Apollo 15 captured a UFO "parked" on a moon crater during a space mission, conspiracists have claimed.

Apollo 15 was the ninth crewed mission in the United States' Apollo program, and the fourth to land on the Moon.

It was the first mission to have a longer stay on the Moon and a greater focus on science than earlier landings.

Apollo 15 also saw the first use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle.

But in unearthed footage captured by astronauts, conspiracists believe they have spotted an unidentified object parked on a moon crater.

The footage, captured by the astronauts, shows them walking around the moon surface.

As their cameras pans, an object appears to become visible on the horizon.

A segment of the footage has been slowed down to highlight the object's shape.

The clip appears to show a white, stationary craft in the distance.

Astronauts on the mission can be heard speaking to the one and other.

One says: "If you look that way to the sun angel, by golly, it's bright."

YouTube conspiracist Disclose Screen The Grimreefar uploaded the clip only house ago.

He captioned the footage: "UFO parked on Moon crater NASA archive."

Hundreds have since flooded in to view the footage.

One person said: "What the heck?! A fabulous piece of footage."

Another added: "They wouldn't show what's really up there."

While a third added: "This doesn't look right to me."

It comes after the ISS live feed captured a "triangular US Space Force ship" hovering over Earth.
