A group dedicated to hunting UFOs have admitted they could be responsible for the mysterious drone sightings that have been reported across Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska.

For weeks, residents in the states have reported seeing the strange objects in the sky every night, with startling videos sweeping the web to back up their claims.

One, seen above, recently, shows a drone-like craft hovering over a drilling rig site.

Despite a taskforce involving 10-15 law enforcement agencies – including the FBI – no one has been able to explain the sightings.

But now, a group of UFO chasers may have finally given everyone an explanation.

Michael Spicer, from Durango, Colorado, told the Journal-Advocate that a group known as ArchAngelRECON from Wichita, Kansas, have been using drones to chase what he believes is a tic-tac UFO.

The “unidentified aerial phenomena”, Michael claims, is the same that US Navy pilots from the USS Nimitz encountered back in 2004.

He says the group sends up flights of between six and 12 drones that fly in patterns like a “grid”.

Michael says he was unaware of the frenzy around the drones until he was contacted by the Federal Aviation Administration.

But he said his group are unlikely to be behind all the sightings, given they do not operate around one of the hotspots in at Colorado’s Sterling Municipal Airport.

Conspiracies have abounded around the drones ever since their first sighting in December.

A former United States Air Force intelligence expert recently told Daily Star Online he believed they could be military craft .

Mike Turber appeared to back up Michael’s claims in his exclusive chat with this site, saying he also spotted a UFO like the one in 2004 in some of the drone videos.

Others have suggested the drones could be protecting nuclear silos and some, of course, have leapt to the explanation of UFOs.
