A British couple whose cruise has been cancelled due to coronavirus made the best of the situation – by recreating their holiday in their living room.
Brits Dave and Norma were due to embark on a 10-day Pacific cruise, on the day which would have marked their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has seen a number of cruise lines cancelling sailings – and Dave and Norma's cruise was one of the affected holidays.
While most people would sit home and mope a little, Dave and Norma decided to make the best of the situation.
The couple, who live in Melbourne, donned bath robes and holiday outfits, and relaxed with their feet up while watching a video of ocean views on their television, sipping on glasses of water.
Their daughter Jane caught their 'holiday' on camera, sharing it on Twitter and offering up a bit of joy amidst a turbulent time. "Cruise cancelled? No problem," she quipped in the accompanying caption.
She told Mirror Online exclusively: "I had the idea to put a YouTube video on their TV of the ocean. I found an hour-long video and Chromecasted it to their TV. I said, 'There you go, who needs that cruise anyway?'.
"We had a giggle over that, and then both Mum and Dad had the idea to take it further and put robes on, hat, glasses etc.
"Initially I was just going to send the video to the rest of the family but when they went to all that effort and my son added the shiphorn with his phone. While I recorded, I felt the video was worth a tweet."
The video has already garnered over 1,000 views, with social media users praising Dave and Norma for their brilliant reaction to some disappointing news.
Jane added: "None of us were expecting the reaction it has had, and tonight they even showed on our local news and I just saw it on Good Morning America!
"We are stunned and it has certainly given us all a giggle. Also, we are so delighted that it has brought some joy and smiles to people in such an uncertain time."
