DUBAI is one of the most popular winter holiday destinations for Brits who want a sunny escape from the UK.

And with the city being one of the hottest destinations all year round – averaging between eight and 10 hours of sunshine a day – it's no wonder as many as 1.2 million Brits visit a year.

Here is what you need to know about getting to the UAE city, as well as which airlines fly and when to go there.

How long is the flight to Dubai?

The flight from the UK to Dubai is around seven hours if flying direct.

However, indirect flights can be a cheaper option, if you don't mind stopping at another destination such as Amsterdam or Doha.

Indirect flights take between eight and 10 hours with one stopover.

Which airlines fly to Dubai from the UK?

A number of airlines fly directly from the UK to Dubai.

British Airways flights operate from London Heathrow which takes just over seven hours.

Emirates also flies directly from the UK departing from both London Gatwick and Heathrow as well as Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, taking around seven hours as well.

Other UK airports have indirect flights when flying with airlines such as KLM and Qatar Airways.

When is the best time of year to visit Dubai?

The best time to visit Dubai is generally said to be from November to March as you can take still take advantage of the climate, without the peak of the desert heat.

April to October is the country's hottest time of the year, when the temperature can top a staggering 40 degrees.

But as this is well-known, Dubai tends to be busier in the UK's winter – meaning more crowds.
