Dancing on Ice is back on our screens to keep those winter blues at bay and a bit of sparkle and dazzle to those cosy Sunday nights in!
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will be on hand to present the new series, which will see celebrities including Gemma Collins and Love Island’s Wes Anderson pair up with professional mentors and face the judges.
Unsurprisingly, they need a pretty impressive ice rink on which to practice their skills and pull off jaw-dropping moves.
But where exactly is the show set – and can you visit it?
Where is Dancing on Ice filmed?
The series is filmed at a purpose-built ice rink at RAF Bovingdon in Hertfordshire. There are actually two rinks available for the celebrities – one for training and one for the live performances.
The former RAF base has also served as a filming location for films including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and Fast and Furious 6.
Can you visit the ice rink?
As it’s a temporary build for the series, you can’t go and visit the ice rink the rest of the year. However if you are curious, you can apply for free tickets to the Dancing on Ice shows.
Has it always been filmed there?
No, Dancing on Ice has had a host of different homes throughout the years. From 2006 to 2010 it was filmed on the George Lucas Stage at Elstree Studios, before moving to the Shepperton Studios in 2011. However in 2012, it was back at Elstree Studios.
However, when the show was revived in 2018, it was relocated to the new home in Hertfordshire, where the 2019 series will also take place.
Dancing on Ice will be airing on ITV on Sundays at 6pm.
