OFFICERS have arrested a 14-year-old boy after two schoolboys were stabbed in the chest last weekend.

The victims, both aged 16, suffered knife wounds after the attack in Lucey Close, Tilehurst, Reading, at around 11.30pm on Saturday.

One of the boys remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, while the other victim has since been discharged from hospital, police confirmed.

Officers launched an attempted murder probe after a person was seen sprinting away from the scene with a blade.

Witnesses said they saw a gang running away from the street towards a nearby play park.

Thames Valley Police confirmed a teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Mike Hall, based at Newbury police station, said: “We remain in the early stages of this investigation, but have now made one arrest.

“We have been very grateful for the support the local community have shown so far and appreciate all those who have come forward with information.

“I would also like to re-iterate my previous request not to share any images or footage you may have on social media, but please report this to police.”
