Bulgarian man, 60, is found dead from ‘multiple injuries’ in his Croydon home – sparking London’s third murder probe of 2020

A Bulgarian man has been found dead at his home in London, sparking the capital’s third murder probe of 2020.

Police were called to the scene in Croydon by the London Ambulance Service at around 8.50am on Monday morning, following reports that a man had been found dead inside his house.

Krasimir Kartikov, 60, was named as the victim found at the property on Whitehorse Road.

A post-mortem examination revealed that the Bulgarian native died of multiple injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Rance, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘Our investigation is moving quickly but we are keen to speak to anyone who saw or spoke to Krasimir after 4pm on the afternoon of Saturday, 11 January.

‘We would also ask anyone who may have been in the Whitehorse Road area to think back as to whether they heard any kind of disturbance or saw anything unusual that Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday.

‘Krasimir’s family are understandably devastated at the death of their loved one and we are committed to finding out exactly what happened that night and bringing the person or persons responsible to justice.’

His next-of-kin have been informed and there have not yet been any arrests made.

On January 3 police in the Finsbury Park area of the city were called after a man was stabbed.

Algerian national Takieddine Boudhane had been living in the UK for three years and had worked as a delivery driver for Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

Also on January 3, police launched another murder investigation after the remains of a 53-year-old man were found in Barnes.

He was identified at William Algar.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Kingston Mortuary on Sunday, 5 January, gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
