Today, it was reported that two children, thought to be 12, were reported to be on the live electric lines, with one of them being killed.

The British Transport Police has not confirmed this and said officers are speaking to the family. They will confirm the age and sex of the victim in due course.

The stretch from Sandhills to Waterloo on the Northern Line had its electricity supply switched off last night as workers rushed to reach the body.

Track staff also inspected fencing to see how the line was accessed.

A BTP spokesman said: ‘Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
