A Connecticut woman has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after authorities seized almost three dozen neglected animals, including a blind owl.
Donna Scirocco, 59, turned herself in last Tuesday on a warrant charging her with six counts of animal cruelty stemming from a search of her Hamden home on Oct. 26, according to cops.
Neighbors had called cops about the smell coming from Scirocco’s home and rats in the neighborhood, police said.
Authorities found 26 cats, a half-dozen dogs, two squirrels in cages, a blind owl and two large rats — some of which were in critical condition, according to police.
Cops also found two dead felines and a dead woodchuck.
The property was condemned by health officials, police said.
Scirocco could not be reached for comment.
