Five people were shot — one fatally and another critically — in a drive-by shooting in Brooklyn late Wednesday night.
The victims were attacked just before midnight in Brownsville, near Bristol Street and Dumont Avenue.
Police said two men drove up to the location in a dark blue SUV, got out of the car and began shooting into the crowd gathered in a courtyard at 333 Bristol St. before getting back in the SUV and speeding away.
A shotspotter activation was triggered by the gunfire, police sources said.
When officers arrived, they discovered three victims in front of the location and two others in front of 244 Dumont Ave.
An 18-year-old was shot in the stomach and died at Brookdale Hospital. A 21-year-old was rushed to Brookdale in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
Three other men, ages 21 and 20, were taken to Brookdale and Kings County Hospitals in stable condition.
The car from which the shots were fired was recovered parked less than a mile away on East End Avenue near Herzl Street, police sources said. The vehicle was unoccupied by the time it was located.
Police said the area where the victims were found has a history of gang activity.
The shooters were still at large.
