Honey Ball and her family tried to help the creature out of their kitchen by using a tea towel to cover it — but it sunk its teeth into her finger before they did so.
Her mum Amanda, 38, took her to hospital and her GP but was astonished when medics revealed the rabies risk.
Amanda, of Billingsley, Shrops, said: “While I knew there was a small risk, I wish I’d known before about the dangers.
“Honey’s OK now, but her arm’s swollen.”
