GHISLAINE Maxwell has hired a lawyer who helped take down notorious drugs lord El Chapo to get her off child sex charges.

Legal documents reveal the Brit socialite will be represented by Christian Everdell – a former assistant US attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Everdell and his team were awarded a 'True American Hero Award' by the Federal Drug Agent Foundation for their apprehension of the former head of the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico.

Those who have worked with him say he may use his experience in high-profile cases to convince Maxwell, 58, to strike a deal and tell what she knows about Jeffrey Epstein's twisted inner circle.

“He will of course do what is in the best interests of his client, but no doubt he will be talking to her about the benefits of becoming a cooperating witness,” tweeted Jennifer Rodgers.

Rodgers used to be his supervisor as a fellow federal Southern District of New York prosecutor, reports the New York Post.

Maxwell was arrested by the FBI on suspicion of being part of Epstein's sex trafficking ring on Thursday.

Epstein's former "pimp" will appear remotely by video for a July 14 court arraignment and bail hearing on charges she recruited girls for him to sexually abuse over two decades ago.

US District Judge Alison J. Nathan set the date in an order as she announced special arrangements to allow limited public access to the video feed of Maxwell facing charges for the first time in Manhattan federal court.

Maxwell was arrested last week at a $1 million estate she bought months ago in New Hampshire, where prosecutors say she had been hiding out after Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan lockup last August.

At the time, Epstein, 66, was facing sex trafficking charges.

She has been indicted on multiple charges, including that she conspired to entice girls as young as 14 to engage in illegal sex acts with Epstein at Epstein’s residences in New York City, Florida, and New Mexico.

Prosecutors say the charges carry a potential penalty of up to 35 years in prison.

It's been claimed Maxwell may cooperate with prosecutors and even has "secret copies of Jeffrey Epstein's sex tapes" that could expose some of the world's most powerful people.

A former friend of Maxwell's said the disgraced socialite had sex tapes of Epstein and others "squirrelled away".

"Ghislaine has always been as cunning as they come. She wasn't going to be with Epstein all those years and not have some insurance," the friend told the Daily Mail.

"The secret stash of sex tapes I believe Ghislaine has squirrelled away could end up being her get out of jail card if the authorities are willing to trade. She has copies of everything Epstein had.

"If Ghislaine goes down, she's going to take the whole damn lot of them with her."

The friend said Epstein liked to film himself with young girls, as well as others who had underage sex.

"He wanted to make sure he had something to hold over the rich and powerful men who took advantage of his sick largesse," the friend said.

On Monday we reported how Maxwell will talk to keep herself out of jail, and may throw Prince Andrew under the bus by handing over 'secret video footage', his cousin claimed.

Christina Oxenberg first met Maxwell in 1990 and had various encounters with her over the years.

She told The Sun Maxwell once 'boasted' to her about procuring women for the monster and recording their pals – and she's willing to testify in court.

In an exclusive interview, the established author called Maxwell "evil" and said she will reveal all in an attempt to get a more lenient sentence, if convicted.
