A mum allegedly abandoned her nine-year-old son at an ice skating rink for four hours while she smoked crack cocaine and then passed out.
Jennifer Moore Frenchmeyer was arrested by police in Houston, Texas, just before midnight on Friday.
Police said in a statement that the owner of Skate Champions found her son unsupervised outside when he went to lock up.
The 39-year-old had reportedly left the child to roam around alone while she drifted through a drug-induced haze.
Frenchmeyer is said to have disclosed to officers that she had smoked the class A substance while taking care of her son and was charged with child abandonment with intent to return.
The accused was also found to be in possession of cannabis, say police.
She had been waiting in her car outside while the child took part in an evening skating session but passed out, reports KHOU.
Police arrived at the scene at 11.51pm and found the suspect unconscious in the driver's seat of her car.
After monitoring CCTV footage, police deduced the boy had been alone at the rink for at least four hours.
Child Protective Services were then informed and the child was put into the care of relatives.
Mark Herman, the Harris County Constable for Precinct 4, said the suspect slurred her words and had "bloodshot eyes" on being confronted by officers.
Frenchmeyer was arrested and held in Harris County Jail.
She was held on a bond of $1,500 (£1,122) by the 208th District Court.
The constable also tweeted the image of Frenchmeyer’s mugshot with the caption: "Constables arrest mother for child abandonment."
